Yamaha's MG12, a 12 input channel analog mixer with 4 channels of onboard compression, is part of the 3rd-generation of Yamaha's acclaimed MG Series of compact mixing consoles that focus on delivering high-quality sound for a wide variety of mixing environments. Employing the same mic preamps as Yamaha's high-end professional mixers, the MG Series offers serious sound quality combined with the exceptional reliability and peak performance unmatched in its class. 4 Channels that include Onboard D-PRE Discrete Class-A Mic Preamps - It all starts here. As a sound engineer, basically everything you do is dependent on the quality of your preamps, which then can determine the direction your mix will take, and ultimately how good it will sound. MG Series mixing consoles feature Yamaha's studio-grade discrete class-A D-PRE preamps, utilizing an inverted Darlington circuit made with 2 cascading transistors in a configuration that offers more power with lower impedance. Delivering fat, natural sounding bass, and smooth, soaring highs, with very low distortion, these D-PRE preamps have an impressively wide frequency range, allowing them to handle signal from any audio source without overly amplifying any specific elements of the sound. Having such a pure sonic platform to build on will ultimately save you time and effort by eliminating the need for excessive EQing or additional effects processing in order to “fix” your mix. High Quality Sound Op-amp - The head amp determines sound quality, and op-amp integrated circuits are one of the most important components in the head amp circuit. The MG mixer series features new, high-quality, custom-made MG01 op-amps co-developed by Yamaha with the semiconductor manufacturer. Although many other op-amps prioritize electrical design and efficiency, Yamaha worked directly with the semiconductor manufacturer themself to ensure focus was on making sound quality first. The resulting MG01 op-amps feature circuitry that's redesigned with optimized internal components and wiring, plus use materials such as high-quality silicon wafers and copper wire to achieve excellent resolution. Switchable Phantom Power & PAD Switch - With onboard phantom power, the MG Series consoles allow you to take full advantage of the greater frequency response and high sound quality of condenser microphones. The input channel with PAD switch will accept MIC- and line-level of inputs, with the PAD switch attenuating high-input signals that often accompany mic'ed instruments during performance, and thus avoiding the clipping that can seriously affect your mix. 1-Knob Compressors - Compression plays an essential role in nearly any recording or sound reinforcement application by altering the level of audio signal dynamics when you need livelier guitars, punchier bass lines, tighter snare, or cleaner vocals. However, it can take numerous hours to master the complexities of even the most basic outboard compression units for effective use. Originally a Yamaha innovation, 1-Knob Compressors are now an industry standard that provides you instant access to optimized compression settings via a single rotary control. EQ and High-pass Filters - There's nothing more useful than reliable equalization when you need accurate management of your tone. Benefitting from Yamaha's unparalleled experience in designing pro audio gear, the MG12 features 3-band equalizers on all mono channels for precise control of your sound. High-pass filter allows you to eliminate unwanted low-frequency noise, for a smoother, cleaner mix. AUX / Effect Sends / Group - MG12 mixers feature 2 AUX sends for expanding your sound reinforcement or recording setup, enabling you to employ additional effects, output to external recording devices, or feed to an external monitoring system. Master send controls are also provided. A Variety of Input / Output Connectors - The MG12 features high-quality Neutrik™ balanced XLR connectors on mono mic/line channels as well as XLR-equipped stereo channels. Each mono input is equipped with a combo jack and accepts both MIC- and LINE-level signals. Two of the stereo inputs are equipped with XLR and 2 phone connectors with XLR accept MIC-level signals while 2 phone connectors accept LINE-level signals and can be used either mono or stereo. Additionally with this model, 2 phone connectors accept LINE-level signals as stereo. Additionally, each of the stereo channel features 2TR in (RCA connectors) and can be used as independent input from external audio sources such as CD players, etc. |
